Gentle Beginnings: Your Soft Landing After Birth
A course dedicated to supporting and guiding you through the fourth trimester.
During this 5 week course you can expect to have time to reflect, learn, stretch, rest, enjoy your new baby and make friends. Join a course with your new baby when you’re ready and they are under 12 weeks of age. Mums will often book before their baby is born so they know they’ll have this invaluable support available when they need it most.
A warm welcome, gentle guidance, judgement-free discussions and time to bond with your new baby
Life with a newborn is hard. You love your baby but you miss sleep! You’re trying to heal from pregnancy and birth but you have a new 24 hour job! And there’s all the other ‘stuff’ that needs doing as well. Plus you’re struggling to adapt to the new you.

I get it. I’ve been there. And for many of us will battle through alone.
At Birth & More I believe that whilst the Village doesn’t exist for most of us, Community can! It can really make a difference.
Knowledge can also help - to reassure you, give you new techniques to try and by managing expectations.
That’s what this newborn course is all about.
Providing you a safe, welcoming space to come to each week where you will be looked after, where you can rest and reset, where you’ll learn and grow in confidence and ultimately where you’ll connect with yourself, your baby and other mums.
Don’t do it alone. Come and find support and guidance through the fourth trimester. Email me to be added to the waiting list for next term.

What to expect in class?
Each class includes 3 elements:
-
time to rest & reset with techniques to calm your nervous system.
-
open circle time to share & listen. Connecting you to other mums going through the same things.
-
gentle education on key topics to build your confidence whilst caring for your new baby.
All in a calm, welcoming environment with hot drinks and homemade cake! Come as you are and feel less alone with this judgement-free community.
Weekly topics:
-
Week 1: Arrive - this is your soft landing after birth: Life with a newborn is intense and unpredictable. It’s also a steep learning curve. Let’s normalise the complexity of the Fourth Trimester.
-
Week 2: Healing & Recovery: Pregnancy and birth, whether vaginal or abdominal, whether spontaneous or induced, takes its toll on your body and mind. Then there's the hormone changes! We discuss postnatal care and how to support your recovery.
-
Week 3: Soothe & Sleep: Sleep becomes an obsession after you have a baby. How much have you had? How much has your baby had? How can you help them to sleep more or sleep off you? We cover normal newborn sleep behaviours, techniques for soothing a distressed baby as well as how to support your own sleep and look after your nervous system.
-
Week 4: How to move out of survival mode and thrive: We're now a month on from when you joined the course, let's take a moment to reflect and set some intentions for the next phase after these newborn days.
-
Week 5: Play time! Discussing baby’s development and key milestones, ways to nurture a loving bond and time practicing gentle tummy time poses to build confidence for tear=free tummy time play!

This course is suitable for mums with babies within 12 weeks old. Many join when baby is 2/3 weeks old so it supports them through those more intense days. Mums often book whilst still pregnant so they know the support will be there when they need it. If your baby doesn't arrive or arrives too close to the course start I can transfer you to the next term.
Rose has extensive postnatal training and hands on experience supporting new mums. She is skilled at holding space and creating an environment that will leave you feeling nurtured and uplifted. Rose also has a broad network of specialists working with postnatal mums and new babies and can sign post you where appropriate.

FAQs
What if my baby doesn't arrive in time or arrives too close to the course start?
I am happy to transfer your booking to the following term. Refunds can only be issued if you can find a replacement or in the event of a serious medical incident or trauma.

Can my partner attend with me?
I'm afraid not as these circles are mum-only due to the sensitive nature of some of the topics. I am also mindful that mums may be feeling quite vulnerable so soon after birth and whilst learning to breastfeed.

Can I attend if my baby is nearly 12 weeks old at the start?
Everyone's transition into motherhood is different so if you feel this course is exactly what you need then you are most welcome.

My baby was born prematurely so which age should I go by, their birth or corrected age?
This circle is for mum's who are seeking community, guidance and support during those early days and weeks after having a baby. You are most welcome if you feel this course is just what you need now your baby is home with you.

What if I can't attend all the dates of the course but I'd still like to join?
We won't be making PAYG spots available as we would like mums to be able to relax fully and for that we need familiar faces each week. However, if you intend to attend the majority of the classes please get in touch to discuss it.

Can I breastfeed / feed / change my baby during class? What if my baby cries?
Absolutely - these circles are baby-friendly so we fully expect you to feed and change and soothe your baby as you need to. We expect that many will also cry at some point too. It's normal. There will be yoga mats, bolsters and chairs for you to find the most comfortable place for you and your little one. You're welcome to pace the room if it helps as well. We also understand if you wish step away to soothe your little one and there is a small waiting room available to use.
