Join the Birth & More Community to feel prepared and excited for your birthing day and supported through parenthood.

A 4 week Antenatal Course for expectant couples in Dorking

Congratulations, I hope you and bump are feeling well. I'm so glad you've found Birth & More, Dorking's only business supporting mums from pregnancy and right through their first year with their baby.

Preparing to give birth for the first time is a big deal! You don't know how you'll cope, how long it'll take or when it'll even happen (due dates are guess dates after all!). You want that dreamy insta-perfect birth experience but everyone keeps sharing horror stories, your midwife appointments are rushed and you're just feeling completely overwhelmed.

I get it. I really do.

It’s how I felt when I was pregnant for the first time and it's how most couples feel when they start my classes so you are not alone.

But I'm here to help! My classes and my personalised support as well as the wider Birth & More Community will leave you feeling empowered, supported and even excited for birth and more!

Did you know that fear could derail your birth experience if it’s allowed to dominate? And that unnecessary medical intervention is the number 1 thing couples want to avoid?

That’s why my course focuses on addressing those things head on.

I will give you the information and techniques you need to release fear around birth, feel confident and empowered to navigate the NHS maternity system and ultimately to enjoy a more comfortable and positive birth experience.

Let's do this!

I've been supporting expectant couples and new mums in Dorking for a few years now and I have over 70 5 star google reviews from just a few of those who've taken classes with me. I also have really strong relationships with other local experts in the area. So I promise you, you are in very safe hands.

How does the group course work and where is it?

I keep my courses small (maximum of 6 couples) to allow you time to get to know each other but also to get what you need from the classes. I teach in central Dorking, at Crossways Church (near Waitrose) and of course there will be drinks and refreshments! Many couples like to stay in touch beyond their births, much like an NCT class.

PLUS my course gives you access to a unique Digital Learning Library of modules from myself and a range of local experts to support you for birth and right through your first year with your baby. Topics include: Birth Education, Hypnobirthing, Tummy Time, Breastfeeding, Maternal Mental Health, Starting Solids, Infant Sleep and more. I'll be adding to this library throughout the year and you'll benefit from that as well.

How long is the course?

Your group course will be taught over 4 weekly classes of roughly 2.5 hours. It works really well alongside or instead of an NCT course. If there's ever a time you can't make a session in person, most people find the pre-recorded material enough to catch up. I’m also happy to talk you through anything before the next class.

When should I book the course?

I recommend joining a group course any time from 20 weeks pregnant.

The courses do fill up quickly, so book promptly to avoid missing your ideal slot. You can practice your Hypnobirthing techniques at any time up until your birth, but starting around 20 weeks is ideal as it'll give you more time to be confident using them.

How much is the course?

The cost of a group course is £250 (a £75 deposit is taken upon booking). This includes all materials, ongoing support, a goodie bag... and refreshments! You are welcome to pay in instalments if this helps just email me after booking to discuss.

I know from personal experience just how challenging breastfeeding can be. I also see so many women who feel grief at giving up before they were ready. This is why I completed training with The Mindful Breastfeeding School and now offer a fully comprehensive breastfeeding workshop that incorporates mindfulness techniques to set you up for a positive journey. Expect to learn how milk production works, how to support your breastfeeding journey including proven mindfulness techniques, how to know if your baby is getting enough, positions and attachment for comfortable feeding sessions. We will also look at your breastfeeding goals and what you need to achieve them. I’ll demonstrate paced bottle feeding and discuss some basics around pumping breast milk as this is a common area new mums wish to know. You will be sent information about local breastfeeding support for when your baby arrives. Includes a comprehensive guide summarising the content covered and a list of local experts and support groups, as well as an optional check-in call once baby has arrived.
