A game changer for a positive birth

I share this in my Antenatal Classes as it was such a game changer for me.
When my husband and I were preparing to welcome our first baby we spent time considering how best to protect my birth space. I was planning to use Hypnobirthing to support me and knew that I needed to be as undisturbed as possible.
At home I found my birthing zone and moved freely so I was already 7 cm when we arrived at hospital. But we needed to work harder to protect my birthing space in hospital so I could stay in my zone.
My husband and I had already discussed how we would deal with this and it proved to be so effective.
We had agreed that my husband would be my gatekeeper.
My husband briefed the midwife when we arrived. He knew all my preferences so spoke up when they had questions.
I didn't have to speak. I avoided eye contact. I didn't speak to any of the midwives even when they used my name.
It was so effective that I successfully stayed in my zone. I avoided needing any pain relief bar a couple of puffs of gas and air before giving that up.
My beautiful baby girl was born in under 4 hours after arriving in hospital! (She was 9lb 6oz so it could have been so different had I panicked!).
I'd highly recommend you do the same thing. Talk to your birth partner about your preferences and empower them to be your gatekeeper.
It'll definitely protect your birth place and put you in a better position for a positive birth.
If you do try it, let me know how you it helps you.
